Kris Hurlburt knows red rock country and thrives on learning more every day. She spent 20 years buying and selling properties for herself before deciding on a career in real estate. After a decade abroad working for the International Red Cross she changed careers to live in the place that she had made that magical connection to so many years before. “My Masters Degree in Counseling continues to take me down an intriguing path. Before I was helping victims of war find solutions for their trying lives and now I am helping people happily find solutions for a new life in red rock country. Understanding your dreams and helping you turn them into reality as seamlessly as possible is paramount”. She also brings the high ethical standard of a health professional to the real estate industry. Kris is smart, honest and industrious.
Kris is not your typical real estate agent and knows that her clients are not just typical either. She shares that passion for the red rock, loves the wide-open desert and small town atmosphere. “Responsible smart growth not pro-growth; sustainable, green,” are just a few of the words and phrases that describe her philosophy. Kris takes pride in matching her clients with that perfect property and finding investment properties good for her client’s portfolios. She encourages smart construction that uses the natural environment as a partner e.g. using solar energy even if it is just orienting a building to use the sun; have roads wind through the natural topography instead of ripping a straight line, and taking into account the impact on the land and the neighborhood in any project. “Low impact and energy efficient should be the norm and I am encouraged by the current ‘go green’ trend”. She keeps current on new construction technologies, design elements and has an extensive list of resources. Kris has taken classes in adobe/earth construction, architecture and interior design.
Kris a member of the Grand San Juan Association of Realtors® and its past president (2006). She is an associate broker at Coldwell Banker Arches Realty, a graduate real estate agent,real estate broker and the Graduate Realty Institute (GRI). She is an active community volunteer doing traumatic stress interventions/support for the community, the Moab Music Festival and others. She also works with Grand County Search and Rescue and was its Member of the Year in 2008. In the spare time she is renovating a 50 year old Moab house, dabbles in water colors, and instead of doing crossword puzzles, draws home designs.
